For more than 50 years The Country Squire Restaurant & Vintage Inn has been a landmark dining spot and country inn on N.C. Highway 50 (Bus. NC 24), between Kenansville and Warsaw.
In keeping with this tradition of excellence, The Country Squire has opened its own working winery in the 18th Century portion of the restaurant. The Country Squire Winery's Tartan Tasting Room & Gift Shop is a wonderful addition to The Country Squire, open to visitors from Tuesday to Saturday (and by special appointment)
Both Lennon and her daughter Loraine Smith hail from Scotland. They decided that starting up Duplin County's second winery was a good way to attract visitors and at the same time add a new dimension to the already successful Country Squire. The Country Squire's Vineyard with a charming gazebo is a lovely spot for weddings or other gatherings, in addition to the other rustic garden areas of The Country Squire's grounds.
Many of the wines at The Country Squire are named after favorite areas at the Squire and the wine label design is reflective of the Lennons' Scottish heritage. The wines are a big hit at the Muscadine Festival held in late September in Kenansville as well as many other festivals held in eastern NC. Country Squire wines are available for purchase through both the winery shop and restaurant. - Extract from The Country Squire's website
