Anjou-Saumur

France

Description

Anjou-Saumur AOC is renowned for it's quality Chenin Blanc and Cabernet Franc, located in the heart of France's Loire Valley region, it has a mainly continental climate with more maritime influences the further West you travel.

The Anjou , probably best known for its widely sold Rosé d'Anjou, is also an area that provides excellent examples of wines made from Chenin Blanc, often fused with a little Chardonnay or Sauvignon Blanc. It also produces Gamay based wines, albeit widely regarded as not on par with those hailing from Beajoulais. Saumur, in addition to being known for its sparkling Chenin Blanc wines, made in the traditional method, as well as it's Crémant de Loire, is also an area where you can fine some of the most refreshing takes on the Cabernet Franc grape.
