Bourgueil

France

Description

Located in the Loire Valley, Bourgueil is known for it's varying soil types, (parts of the AOC being sandy and gravelly, while others limestone) and in delicious Cabernet Franc based red wines that it produces.

Bourgueil is positioned just to the North of the Loire River, what is know as the river's right bank, just East of Anjou-Saumur and a short drive to Tours to the East. The climate is mainly continental although further to the west can begin to have some maritime influences. Bourgueil does produce a small amount of Rosé wines however, the aforementioned Cabernet Franc wines from this region are widely considered, alongside it's Loire Valley neighbour Chinon, to be some of the very best examples of this varietal in the world.
