Crozes-Hermitage

France

Description

The appellation of Crozes-Hermitage is the largest in the northern Rhône, although it does make some exceptional wines, generally they are less highly regarded than those from the nearby revered appellations of Côte-Rôtie or Hermitage. Most of the wines produced here are red wines made from the Syrah grape, sometimes blended with small quantities of white Roussanne or Marsanne grapes. Some white wines are also made, based on Marsanne and/or Roussanne.

Due to it's location in the North of Rhône, Crozes-Hermitage has a cooler, continental climate, in stark contrast to the Southern Rhône.
