Description

Located in the northwest North Carolina stretching from the foot of the Blue Ridge Mountains across the rolling Piedmont, the Yadkin Valley was for a long time tobacco growing territory. The soils are largely clay while the climate is temperate.


Yadkin Valley is one of three AVAs located in North Carolina, it's original grape varietal was Scuppernong although nowadays you are likely to find the estimated 35 vineyards in this area using a whole host of European varietals including Chardonnay, Viognier, Riesling, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot.


Yadkin Valley also containers the sub-region Swan Creek AVA.
