Vitis Vinifera, Red Grape

The Barbera varietal wine grape

Although regularly planted across the new world, Barbera is a grape that will always be linked to Italy and in particular, Piedmont. In fact, Barbera actually accounts for around 50% of the vineyards in Piedmont. It's widely considered that these vineyards are home to two of the best examples of the grape, Barbera d'Alba is often deep in colour and can be both complex and powerful while Barbera d'Asti is elegant and brighter in colour.
